She is a 1976 VW Westfalia campervan, also known as a ‘Baywindow’.
Debbie and Jeff bought their bus in Feb. 2013 after an intense 6 month search. Trolling TheSamba.com Classisfieds daily does not even begin to describe our obsessive search. The bus however magically appeared when they stopped their eager search, and rather patiently waited until a bus found them. Days after this shift was made, Marigold appeared in their lives. No kidding.
They bought Marigold in LA – Riverside to be exact – and are essentially the second owners. The first guy that owned it for only 18 months doesn’t count. The bus lived its entire life in the dry desert outside of LA. Jeff and Debbie bought it 10 miles from where it was originally delivered. Oh yeah – she apparently spent 20 years stored in a garage and never used. She’s mint and bone-dry.
Marigold has the Type 4, 2L air-cooled fuel injection engine. The interior is pristine – in nearly showroom original condition. The outside has been resprayed its original “Chrome Yellow” at some point. It looks good from 5 feet. The underside is perfect.

Our friends at VW Serremonte in San Francisco stored our bus for us for a while. We had no idea they would put her in the Showroom!
Love your van. Did you have to pay a big $ ?
Thanks! We love it too. Depends on your definition of ‘big $’. We feel we got it for a fair price and it’s gone up in value. Quite considerably…
